FURNACES for GEM TREATING

Gemlab Inc. has the technological knowledge and long experience in fabricating specialty high temperature electric resistance furnaces to meet most demanding processing application in heating ruby-sapphire and other gems. The following models are available:

Series 1800 for high temperature applications
Series 1700 for high temperature applications
Series 1350 for medium-temperature applications

All furnaces are designed by Ted Themelis and fabricated in Thailand using US parts. All furnaces feature low initial cost, efficient, uncomplicated design, easy to operate. Accurate and uniform temperature control. All controls and instrumentation are positioned to optimize monitoring and control. Components are readily assessable for inspection and maintenance. All modules are enclosed in ergomically-designed cabinets. The furnaces are ready to operate as soon as power is connected to the main circuit breaker. All furnaces are completely assembled and tested prior to shipping; a copy of the test results will accompany the shipment.

We deliver these furnaces as per specifications and we guarantee the workmanship and function of the instruments as per the original OEM. Expendable parts such as heating elements, thermocouples, refractory parts are not included in the warranty.

Model 181-3C. Electric resistance 1800oC vertical top/bottom muffle furnace

Model 181-3C furnace facilitates the finest engineered features incorporated with the best technological advances to deliver maximum performance with proven reliability and reproducibility. Many Gemlab furnaces have been fabricated and installed around the world.

Model 181-3C is a medium size floor model furnace ergonomically designed for operation up to 1800°C under fully controllable atmosphere conditions ranging from nearly-pure oxygen to pO2=10-14. Fluxes and/or gas mixtures may be used in the same run for heating up to 3700 cts of ruby-sapphire. Model 181-3B is equipped with vertical muffle configuration (open-loop design). Access to the furnace for loading, unloading or for maintenance is through the top or bottom muffle cover assembly of the muffle using an motorized elevator assembly. The advantage of this design is the fully controllable cool-down rates as the load can be removed safely from the heating chambers in 15 minutes!

The innovative and exclusive features are developed, engineered and fabricated by Ted Themelis, heat treatment expert and author. The furnace configuration consists of four modules: 1) furnace 2) power and atmosphere control 3) cooling 4) Power distribution control panel. The furnace requires about 9 sq. m. of floor space and it should be installed in a suitable location where ventilation and easy access to an open-air of prime consideration.

This is the Model 181-3B Furnace.

Model 171-3C. Electric resistance 1700oC vertical top/bottom muffle furnace
This model is essentially the same with model 181-3C but with operating temperature of 1700oC.

Model 1350-3C. Electric resistance 1350oC vertical top/bottom muffle furnace
This is the new model of the highest quality possible equipped with atmosphere control and all the fine features of models 171-3 and 181-3C. The features of this furnace are unique and offered exclusively from Gemlab.
